Najafabad rugs originate from Najafabad, a city in central Iran near Isfahan. Renowned as a respected center for rug weaving, Najafabad also serves as a trade hub for an agricultural region famous for its pomegranates. The rugs produced in this area are reflective of the broader regional style rather than being unique to the city. Their designs and color schemes closely align with those of neighboring Isfahan and Kashan, with some influence from Yazd and Ardekan.
While not on par with the legendary Isfahan rugs, Najafabad rugs are of excellent quality and are admired for their remarkable symmetry. Skilled artisans in the region use Persian knots, which allow for greater precision in the weaving process.
