Few carpet origins can rival the esteemed reputation of Kashan. Renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and adherence to traditional production methods, Kashan represents the pinnacle of Persian rug-making. One of the most famous Persian carpets, the Ardabil rug housed in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, is believed to have been woven in this historic city, situated between Isfahan and Tehran.
During the Persian Empire, Kashan was a vital trading hub along the legendary Silk Road, which remains significant to this day. However, the city’s prominence in trade has diminished over time.
